Tell us about yourself! What should people know about you?
JY'SLAYY is an emerging pop and R&B artist known for his distinctive musical style. His debut album, A Faulty Heart, released in 2024, is a blend of soul and contemporary pop elements. His music features smooth melodies and introspective lyrics, often exploring themes of love, relationships, and personal struggles. JY'SLAYY is gaining recognition for his unique voice and his growing presence in the music scene, with multiple singles and visuals like "Fiending & Rollin'" showcasing his evolving artistry. Additionally, he has a dedicated fan base and offers merchandise related to his music. One of his standout tracks seems to be "Fiending & Rollin'". This song blends his soulful vocals with a catchy rhythm, and it’s been gaining traction for its relatable lyrics and smooth, atmospheric sound. How long have you been making music and what or who inspired you to do so?
JY'SLAYY has been making music since July of 2020, going under a different name, DASLAYAA. A then rapper, settled back into his roots of singing in January of 2024.
We are aware not everyone makes music the same. What is your creative process like?
My creative process starts with something or someone evoking an emotion within me, whether it be sadness, happiness or even anger. I then pour it out into my creativity. I also love to feel sensual when I create. I love to feel alive as well. The room has to be lit when I'm writing but dark and glowy when I'm recording.
Is there any advice you would give to upcoming artists?
Never give up, even when others throw hate on you.Â
