Each AfroVibes International event is powered by the DJs behind the decks. In this spotlight, we're featuring Mami Wanted, the headlining DJ bringing the global energy to each stop on the AfroVibes International Europe 2026 tour!
Who are you and where are you from? What should the AfroVibes International audience know about you and your journey as a DJ?
My name is Mami Wanted, I’m an international DJ originally from France and based between different parts of the world. My journey as a DJ really started from a deep love for music and nightlife culture. Over time I began building my path by playing in different cities and connecting with diverse audiences. For me, DJing is not just about playing tracks, it’s about creating a moment where people from different cultures can connect through music. Today my goal is to keep expanding globally while bringing my own energy and perspective to every dancefloor.
What genres do you enjoy spinning the most, and how would you describe your overall sound or style behind the decks?
I enjoy playing Afrobeats, Amapiano, Hip-Hop, Dancehall and global club sounds. My style is very energetic and rhythm-driven. I like to build sets that keep people moving while also surprising them with transitions between different cultures and sounds. My goal behind the decks is always to create a journey where the crowd feels the energy from start to finish.
AfroVibes International brings together Afrobeats, Hip-Hop, Amapiano, and Dancehall from across the diaspora. How do you approach blending different global sounds in your DJ sets?
For me it’s very natural because these sounds already speak to each other. I focus on rhythm, tempo and energy. Sometimes it’s about transitioning smoothly between genres, other times it’s about creating a contrast that wakes the crowd up. The beauty of diaspora music is that it travels and evolves everywhere, so mixing these sounds reflects how people actually experience music today.
What is your process for preparing for a live set, especially when performing for a diverse and international crowd?
I always research the crowd and the environment first. Every city has its own energy. Being a DJ is about feeling the room and adapting. My preparation is really about having the right tools to respond to whatever energy the audience brings.
What has been one of the most memorable moments of your DJ career so far?
One of the most memorable moments has been performing internationally and seeing people from completely different backgrounds connecting on the dancefloor. Those moments remind me why i started DJing in the first place. Traveling and sharing music across cultures has been one of the most rewarding parts of my journey.
How do you think DJs contribute to connecting cultures through music on a global stage?
DJs are like cultural bridges. We introduce audiences to sounds they may not hear every day and we create spaces where people discover new music together. Music travels faster than anything, and DJs help bring those different influences into one place on the dancefloor.
What advice would you give to DJs who want to break into the international party or nightlife scene?
Stay consistent, build your own identity and focus on your craft. It’s important to connect with people, travel when possible and remain open to different cultures and sounds. The nightlife scene is global now, so being adaptable and authentic is key.
